There are plenty of places to ride vintage three speed bicycles.

Street

Those who have riding experience sufficient for their safety can ride on the street. It is challenging, rewarding, and very useful for travel of moderate distances. If you do not have experience enough for riding on streets, you should practice where there is no traffic first to get experience until you feel confident that you can handle a bicycle well. If you
don't know the rules of street bicycle riding check for the laws governing street riding in your area and read the booklet "Street Smarts" that was written by John S. Allen.  It is online at this link. If you live in Pennsylvania it is incorporated in their Bicycle Driver's guide.

Rail Trail

There are many miles of quiet tame wide lanes for walking, bicycle riding, skating.
